Faculty and Staff Affinity Groups

Overview

The Faculty and Staff Affinity Groups are designed to cultivate and connect Iowa State’s diverse faculty and staff populations with the greater university community. These groups support recruitment and retention by addressing social and professional components essential to an enhanced quality of life for faculty and staff.  The Faculty and Staff Affinity Groups align with the university’s strategic goals by tackling the ongoing effort to create and support a more diverse campus community.

Mission

The Faculty and Staff Affinity Groups have the common mission to promote a greater sense of community and mutual support for diverse faculty and staff at Iowa State University through mentoring, networking and professional development. The Faculty and Staff Affinity Groups will serve as an organized support network to help employees navigate the university system while providing a platform to vocalize their thoughts, concerns, needs, and ideas to enhance the overall mission of the institution.

Purpose

  • To provide a supportive social and cultural community at Iowa State University in order to share and exchange ideas.
  • To provide faculty and staff  a network through which to connect with the university community.
  • To promote professional development opportunities for diverse faculty and staff.
  • To support the continued progression of diversity awareness within the university community where issues can be effectively identified, directly challenged, and thoughtfully discussed.
  • To support the recruitment, retention, and professional excellence of diverse faculty and staff at Iowa State University.
