Latinx Affairs Steering Committee
Using the shared governance model of leadership and empowerment, committee members represent key areas of student success across the Iowa State University community. The purpose of the committee is to increase support for our Hispanic/Latinx student communities; fostering student achievement, resilience and long-term capacity building across campus. We want our students to excel at Iowa State and move on to rewarding careers in their chosen professions. Key initiatives include education about immigration issues such as DACA and being undocumented and support of students as they navigate those issues. The committee meets twice per semester.
The committee seeks to work towards identifying and implementing programs and opportunities in alignment with best practices supporting Hispanic/Latinx students in Higher Education. The Campus Support Resource includes a network of key contacts across ISU for students to connect with should they need guidance with immigration matters.
