Women's Leadership Consortium

The Women's Leadership Consortium (WLC) brings together the leaders of women's programs and services on the Iowa State University campus. The Consortium's mission is to facilitate coordination of programs and initiatives; to serve as a resource to administration; and to encourage the advancement of women into leadership positions.

The membership of the Women's Leadership Consortium comprises directors, chairs, or leaders of the following programs, units, or committees:

  • Archives of Women in Science and Engineering
  • Athletic Department
  • Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics
  • Child Care and Family Resources
  • Department of Public Safety - Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)

  • University Committee on Women (UCW)
  • University Lectures Program
  • Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion (VPDI) Council
  • Women's and Gender Studies Program
  • YWCA

In the event of a recurring conflict (e.g. a professional leave or other long term absence preventing participation), the regular member can designate a substitute and notify the convener of WLC.

Appointment of single-meeting substitutes is not encouraged, but special circumstances can be discussed with the convener.

The consortium reports to the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion who may appoint a convenor to facilitate meetings. The consortium meets three times a semester to share information and plan joint initiatives. The consortium maintains an updated website, sponsors programs and events, and meets annually with the President as needed. In order to review accomplishments and plan for the following academic year, the consortium holds a retreat every summer.
